Background

To help businesses bounce back from COVID, the government provided an Additional Restrictions Grant to local councils.

Waverley Borough Council’s Economic Development Team approached Essential PR & Marketing for support on a number of one-off projects.

The Brief

To provide a variety of PR and marketing services to promote sectors which were hardest hit by the pandemic. This included hospitality, leisure and the tourism sector.

What we did

  • Wrote press releases, website copy and briefing notes for staff and councillors about a number of initiatives including training opportunities for businesses, a shop local scheme and a promotion about leisure.
  • Researched, wrote and project managed the production of a publication which was sent to around 60,000 households and businesses in Waverley. The aim was to encourage people to support local businesses.
  • Researched, wrote and project managed a publication to promote group travel.
  • Researched, wrote and project managed a tourism guide.
  • Campaign to encourage local residents and visitors to join their local sports facilities.

Testimonial

"Working with Julie was so easy. Full of ideas, calm at all times, despite the £500,000 worth of projects being delivered to support local businesses impacted by the pandemic all with urgent deadlines. Julie has great ideas and clarity in achieving how we could reach the markets we wanted to target.

"I would recommend Essential PR to everyone.

"Really pleased with the professional results of all of the campaigns using all channels of communication."
