If you are planning to enter a business award, here are some tips to give you a head start on writing a winning entry.
Check the deadline.
Read the terms and conditions and any guidance provided.
Make sure you know how to apply - there is nothing worse than finding out on the day of the deadline that you should have posted a hard copy of your entry.
Assess the categories to make sure you can meet the criteria.
Check whether there is a word count and stick to it.
Read the question and answer it accurately. You may want to share some wonderful achievements but if it doesn’t help to answer the question you will be wasting your time.
Write clearly and in plain English.
Be honest and support your claims with evidence.
Include relevant facts and figures, quotes and client testimonials.
Leave enough time to work on the presentation of your entry.
Once you are happy with your entry, ask somebody who is not involved in your organisation to read it and give constructive feedback.
Ask at least two people to proofread your entry.
Keep a copy of your final entry so you can remind yourself what you said.
